Also, TrashPak lets you remove entries from the System and Directory soups (can be fatal if you remove the wrong entry, so be carful). The system soup is where preferences for various packages are stored. The Directory soup is where MetaData is stored. MetaData is the data taht the NCK uses to display soups for editting.WARNING: While the remove button gives you an change to change your mind (there is a confim dialog _ONLY_ if you check the "Confirm?" checkbox in the preferences), undo is NOT supported. If you remove it, it is gone! ********************* WARNING ************************If you leave the "Confirm?" checkbox unchecked, then items are removed as soon as you press the remove button!********************* WARNING ************************So, why use TrashPak? --Use TrashPak to clean up after packages that you no longer use. Also, TrashPak is faster that using the Card or Prefs to remove packages (less steps).Note: If you sync using the NCK, then remove a System or Directory soup entry, then sync again, the entry will return to your Newton! Here's how to do it. Sync with the NCK. Remove the System or Directory entries you don't want. Rename the Sync file on your PC/Mac to [name].old or something. Now sync with the NCK again to maintain a backup. This last sync will basically seem like a new backup to the NCK, so the old entries should not be restored.Another Note: Ignore the numbers that preceed System and Dir Soup entries; these are the unique internal ID of these items and are only used internally. Why send Allan any money? --Shareware is cool!
