Hierarchical Extras Drawerversion 1.0Extras Drawer enhancerby Fabien OCTAVE¥ InstallingThere are two packages:1) Hierarchical Extras Drawer (the kernel)2) HED Prefs (the installer)Download the first package into the internal store (NOT a card). This is VERY important because this part of the software must be running from the internal store.Download the HED Prefs where you want (I suggest a memory card to leave room in the internal store) Note: These packages are not extras, you can't see any icons of them in the Extras Drawer.Go to the preference rollOpen the item 'Hierarchical Extras Drawer'If everything goes well, it will look like:ÊTap on Start (not here, this is only a picture), and you are ready.¥ RemovingTo remove permanently,Go to the preference rollOpen the item 'Hierarchical Extras Drawer'Tap on RemoveThen, Remove the Package called "Drawer:OCTAVE"Remove the Package called "DrawerPref:OCTAVE"After this, if the height of the Extras Drawer is not properly set, you must restart the Newton. Note: I suggest to restart the Newton anyway! If something goes wrong, don't panic.Simply, restart the system with the switch in the battery compartment. And remove 'HED' if you wish (see Removing).¥ Modus OperandiCreate foldertap on the folder tab on the top of the view. A popup will drop down.ÊSelect from that menu ÒNew folder...Ó; a new untitled folder will appear. Note: If there is no more room on the screen, you must scroll to see it.Change folder nameTap on the name; an information slip will open showing its title.Êchange its name and close the slip. Note: For obvious reasons, I will not let you change the name of others icons.Drag iconsTap and keep the pen down on the same place. After a while, you will hear the selecting sound (only if pen sound effect preference is active). Then keeping the pen down, you can drag the item, it will follow your moves. If you lift the pen onto a folder icon, the item will be dropped inside.Open a folderTap on its icon and its content will be displayed.ÊBack to parent foldertap on the folder tab on the top of the view. A popup will drop showing the path from the Extras Drawer. ÊSelect from that menu the folder you want to open. Move icons from one folder to anotherOpen the folder where the item is located.Drag the item on the left side or right side of the screen.A small hilited text (which is the title of the item) will appear on the top left corner of the folder view.ÊNavigate to open the destination folder.Drag the small hilited text anywhere in this folder view or onto a folder icon located in the view. The item has now moved into this folder.Remove FolderÊSimply, use the pen to scrub it. The corresponding folder will disappear in a trash. Note: Its content will be moved to the root level. (Extras Drawer)¥ Interesting featuresWhen a folder is open and its content is shown, this will be the default view when you reopen the Extras Drawer. So it gives quick access to some icons. When you place icons into a folder, and for some reason, you remove that extra (e.g. unplug a card...); the next time you reinstall that extra, it will be located in the folder where it was located before it was removed.¥ CopyrightsThis software ÔHierarchical Extras DrawerÕ is proprietary to its author: Fabien OCTAVE.You may NOT distribute it by any means without an explicit written permission of the author.Fabien OCTAVEAvenue de lÕAigle 12B- 1150 BrusselsOCTAVE@AppleLink.Apple.com100020.1501@CompuServe.comBy using this software, you understand and agree that this software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.
