RYO IV for Newton 2.0 is provides the prinicple features of RYO III in for users of the Newton running OS 2.0.RYO IV lets you create "status bar" buttons at the bottom of the notepad to open apps. It also lets you create invisible buttons on the bottom halves of the printed "silkscreened" buttons. Thus if you set "Connection" to the "Names" button, tapping the word names on the button will open the connection. To use RYO IV, open it and select an application. The text line will show: 1. the first letter of the application's name, if it is has not button; 2. the text of the application's button if is has a status bar button; or 3. the name of the silk button it is attached to.If you want to make a statusbar button, select the application you want the button to control, write the text you want in the line. (You can fit 1-2 characters) Then tap "MakeStat". The change takes effect immediately and will persist accross restarts. If you want to make a silk button, select the application you want the button to control, tap "MakeSilk" and select the silk button you want from the popup. This change also takes effect immediately and will persist accross restarts. To remove a silk button, tap the "RemoveSilk" button and select the silk button which you want to deactivate. The change is immediate and persistent. To remove a status bar button, select the application and tap "RemoveStat". The change will not occur until the next restart.RYO IV assumes the Notepad is the background application. This doesn't matter for silk buttons, and can be worked around even for status buttons. If you create a status button when the Notepad is the background application, the status button will appear in whatever background application you later change to.If you experience serious problems with RYO IV (none know at this writing, but I bet someone will), go to the Storage folder in the Extras Drawer, select the "RYO:SlM" icon and delete it. Then restart. This will make RYO forget all your buttons.RYO IV is freeware. It is copyrighted by me, S. Millman, 1994-5. My email addresses are StephenM35@aol.com and StephenM10@eworld.com.
