This package adds a button to the status bar of the Notepad that helps you create bullet list outlines. It has variable tab levels and the ability to choose different bullet list markers. When the button is first installed you see a new button on the status bar in the notepad. You need to establish an insertion point before you tap the button. If you hear a beep when you tap the button it means that there is no insertion point. Tap somewhere on the notepad once, to get a new insertion point at the tap location. Now, tap (but don't hold) briefly on the button. A new bullet is placed on the note. To change to a different bullet marker, tap the button, but this time hold the pen on the button until you hear a squeak (about 1/2 second) and a pop-up list appears. To change to a different marker, choose any of the items in the list. The new marker is placed in the note at the current insertion point. The button shows the last bullet marker used and now if you tap on the button, the new marker is used. You can also tap on the right or left arrows to change the indentation level. The button keeps track of the marker for each level. If you haven't reached a particular level before, then the current marker is used until you change it to something else. The number next to the right arrow is the current indentation level. There is a bug (or feature ?) in the current Newton system that occasionally will remove all formatting information and squeeze all of your text together into one paragraph. This occurs most often when you use letter-by-letter mode but I believe that it can happen under other circumstances also. It is theoretically possible to make a bullet list generator that isn't susceptable to this problem but I haven't done the work to make that happen, maybe someday in the future. This package is an auto-part (no icon in the extras drawer). It can be installed either internally or on a PCMCIA card. It takes up about 1400 bytes of heap when installed. Revision History: 7/15/95 - Updated for UI changes Added delayed Popup, now a simple tap uses the last mode Holding down the button, pops up the bullet list Keeps the status bar button hilited now, as appropriate Uses a variable size tab array to save heap memory General memory cleanup 7/14/95 - Initial Public Version - Updated private version to use NTK 1.5 This package is free but Copyright 1995 Jim Bailey.
