Phone Memoversion 2.0by Scott JensonJune 12, 1996Introduction============NotePad Stationery for Newton 2.0 systems. Phone Memo helps you manage your phone calls. It adds an additional item in the"New" menu in the NotePad that creates notes especially setup to handle phonecalls.I hear you ask, "Why have stationery when you can use the Calls Application?" Good Question. Here are my answers:- I spend most of my time in the NotePad and wanted something integrated with it.- I wanted alarms to remind me to call someone.- I wanted to jump to the person's Name card quickly.- I wanted new people to be added into the Names app for me.Lots of loving care went into Phone Memo to make it useful and fun. (Be sure tocheck out the alarm sounds!) If you use it, please feed the programmer: send himemail at jenson@apple.com Don't worry, bugs and comments accepted equally.Phone Memo is free but all rights are reserved by Scott Jenson. It can also befreely distributed as long as this read me file is included with thePhoneMemo.pkg file.Known limitation: Load Phone Memo into internal memory, not onto a card. If you put it on a card, and try to eject the card, it will give you the "grip of death".I kept the app small (30k) so keeping it internal shouldn't be a problem. Version 2.0============I've received LOTS of great feedback from users of PhoneMemo. There is no way toincorporate all of the requested features. My goal has always been to keepPhoneMemo clean and small. However, the following additions seemed worth it:- Alarms now have a "Snooze" button- You can create a Todo item of a PhoneMemo.- There is a popup list of common notes to insert when placing a call.- The overview now shows if an alarm is set.- When creating a new card, you can set a name AND a companyI've also fixed lots of bugs. I won't bore you to death with all of them but thethree that received the most mail will get a mention:- When you check a call as completed, it stays checked now.- You no longer get an extra space in phone numbers when you create a new card.- The "Show Memo" feature of alarms now works with BackDrop+Installing over version 1.0===========================Installing a new piece of stationery can be tricky. The biggest problem isinstalling while you have a PhoneMemo visible. Here is the best bet:1) Go to a folder in the NotePad with no PhoneMemos in it.2) Open extras and go to the Extensions folder3) Scrub out Phone Memo 1.04) Go back to "Unfiled icons" and open Connection to install PhoneMemo 2.0Unfortunately, there is a bug in PhoneMemo 1.0 that will most likely force you to reboot your Newton. My apologies. You will know it is time to reboot whentapping the routing button (the envelope in the upper right of the screen) willbeep at you with an error. I thought I had that EnsureInternal thingdown (Geek joke -- sorry)
